What makes us special

We shape the future of aviation

For more than 100 years, we have been shaping the future of aviation and making a significant contribution to research in a wide range of areas. From starting as early as 1920 with investigations into flight behavior and the optimization of aerodynamics, to the electrification of aviation since 2010. In addition, we have always worked together with the German Federal Aviation Authority to develop certification guidelines to shape aviation in the long term.

We are full of ideas

Unconventional solutions are not uncommon in the complex challenges that characterize aviation. Also, we take unusual approaches to problem solving in the development of our prototypes. Optimization of component weight and the highest demands on safety and performance require constant "out-of-the-box" thinking in our projects. The successful implementation of our projects therefore relies on the creativity of our imaginative members.

We have expertise

Due to the excellent academic environment in Aachen and the excellent education of the RWTH and FH Aachen, we have been able to gather an extensive expertise over the years. This broad spectrum of expertise is complemented by our partners from industry and academia both nationwide and internationally. Through our umbrella organization Idaflieg, we also cooperate with other academic aviation groups and are in constant exchange about the latest developments in aviation.

Component Sponsor

As a component sponsor for our projects and aircraft, it is possible for you to integrate your unique products into flying systems. Especially very innovative products are an excellent opportunity to integrate them into our prototypes and thus to actively actively shape aeronautical research with us.

Know-how partner

As a know-how partner of the FVA, you discuss problem solutions with us and support us with your outstanding know-how. We regularly sit down with you and discuss our joint approach in order to find an optimal solution. Especially these iterative processes (e.g. within aircraft development) are indispensable for an airworthy prototype
